The difficulty ramps up quickly, and while our protagonist initially has helpful thoughts to share, eventually we're left much to our own devices, though there is a walkthrough provided for each chapter should you get really stuck. If the controls start simple and stay simple, the puzzles are a different story. (This becomes obvious in a late game section that inexplicably and disappointingly uses the standard point-and-click side scrolling where both the visuals and puzzles feel stale and flat.) The controls are simple, and the brief Prologue tutorial is more than enough to master them. ![]() Swiping to change your viewpoint is a surprisingly joyful experience, and contributes to both the atmosphere and gameplay. Obviously, you investigate, which in Tiny Room Stories involves tapping to look closer/interact with objects, and swiping to rotate the room/environment. ![]() When you arrive, the streets are empty and the house you were told to go to abandoned. You play as a private detective summoned by an urgent letter from your dad to the town of Redcliff. Tiny Room Stories takes the rotate-to-reveal-a-new-perspective conceit of The Room, plops it into an isometric voxel world, and wraps it in an old school first-person point-and-click with a slow burn story, making it one of my favourite adventure games of the past couple years.
